Who We Are
Bin There, Tote That! is a woman-owned local moving tote rental service for the Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA metro areas. It was founded by Colette Monaghan, a long-time local entrepreneur.
We rent cleaned, sanitized reusable plastic totes with free delivery, free pickup, and a hand truck included, in flat-rate packages starting at $97 as of July 2026, so nobody in this metro has to move with cardboard again.
Why we exist: everyone who has moved knows the cardboard chapter: the store runs, the taping, the boxes that die on the stairs, the disposal pile you're stuck with for weeks afterward. We looked at that whole miserable chapter and decided it should be a single delivery instead.
What we're not: a national franchise or a booking portal. When you call or text (971) 402-0969, you're talking to the people who load the van, wash the totes, and drive your delivery.
Yes, the name is a pun. We're a moving company from the city that brought you Voodoo Doughnut; a straight face was never on the table. The service underneath it is serious: clean equipment, kept promises, and phone calls that get answered.
About Me
Twenty Years Of Small Business, Right Here In Portland
Bin There, Tote That! isn't my first company, and the ones before it are why this one works the way it does.
In 2002 I started Real Solutions Marketing by myself. Realtors and mortgage brokers needed a way to stay in front of their clients, so I designed, printed and mailed it for them: flyers, postcards, newsletters, the whole thing. I learned the business one customer at a time. Within three years we were at $250,000 in sales. Within five, more than 700 clients across the country and four full time employees who kept it all moving.
I loved that work. Not the growth chart, but the calls. Hundreds of people trusted me with the thing their livelihood depended on, and I got to be genuinely useful to them.
These days I also manage operations at Monaghan's Landscaping. That means all of it: the financials, the scheduling, the hiring, and the systems that let a company grow without falling apart. In season we run a crew of up to thirteen. It's small and family owned, and our Google and Yelp ratings are high because our customers are happy. In this business you can't fake that. People talk.
So Why Totes? Why Rent Plastic Moving Boxes?
Because I keep living the problem. This year I moved again, into a new house in Milwaukie, and the cardboard chapter is still the worst part of it. The running to the store multiple times. The taping. The box that gives out halfway up the stairs. Then a mountain of flattened cardboard in the driveway that you now have to deal with on top of everything else. No one's ever finished a move and thought, the boxes were the good part.
There's no reason it has to work that way. Sturdy totes already exist. Somebody just has to show up with them, take them away afterward, and charge a price you can understand before you book. That's not a technology problem. It's an operations problem, and running crews and schedules is the thing I already know how to do.
So, I built it here, for here. Portland and Vancouver, both sides of the river, with our own people doing the deliveries. Not a franchise, not a booking portal. When you rent from us, the bins show up when we say they will, the price is the price, and if something goes sideways you talk to me.
That's the whole idea. A local company, a local reputation, and a name I'm not willing to spend carelessly.
And honestly, I love this part. Moving day is a big one. New house, new street, new coffee place to figure out. I get to show up at the front end of that with a stack of clean totes and take one thing off your list.
Whenever you're ready, it would be my honor to help you move.
How We Think About Moving
Convenience first
Every decision starts with one question: does this remove a step from your move? Delivery, pickup, the included dolly, lids that snap instead of tape; that's the whole philosophy in practice.
Honest pricing
Four flat packages, $97 to $257, everything included. The only extras are the three add-ons you'd choose yourself. If cardboard genuinely suits your move better, we'll say so; our comparison pages do.
Green without the lecture
A typical move burns through 60+ single-use boxes, and most become trash within the month. Each of our totes does hundreds of moves before retirement. We'll give you the numbers, keep them honest, and skip the sermon entirely.
Local and human
Portland and Vancouver, both sides of the river, cross-river moves included. Calls and texts get answered by a person who knows the schedule, and "we reply within one business day" usually means within the hour.
What a Rental With Us Looks Like
You book a package by form, call, or text, and we agree on a delivery window around your move date. On delivery day a stack of cleaned totes and a hand truck lands at your door, and from there the move is yours: pack at your pace, load the truck in tidy tote columns, and unpack in the new place inside the two-week window. When the last tote is empty, one call or text brings us back to collect everything, even when the new address is across the river. No tape was bought, no boxes were folded, and nothing goes to the curb when it's over. The full walkthrough lives on how it works.
Who books us? Renters and apartment movers who have no box stash and no truck for supply runs. Home buyers and sellers packing against closing dates. Busy people who would rather do anything else with a Saturday. And offices that want a relocation to look organized instead of chaotic. If that's you, the pricing page shows the four flat rates, and the quote form at the bottom of this page starts the clock.
The Fleet, Between Moves
Between rentals, every tote comes back to us to be washed and sanitized before it goes anywhere near your dishes and linens. That habit quietly solves the worst part of "free" used boxes: the grime, the moisture, and the occasional six-legged stowaway.
It's also what makes the eco math work. A tote that gets reused hundreds of times replaces hundreds of single-use boxes, and the disposal run at the end of your move simply stops existing; we take everything back into the fleet.
That loop is the quiet advantage of renting over buying, too: no stack of plastic bins to store in your garage for a move you might make in five years. The totes live with us, work every week, and retire only when they've earned it. Between rentals they wait in our warehouse, not in a landfill and not in your crawl space.
Curious what that looks like in practice? Start with how it works or our eco-friendly moving guide.
Where We Work
Our vans run both sides of the Columbia every week: Portland and its close-in neighborhoods, the Oregon communities from Hillsboro to Gresham, Vancouver and its districts, and the Clark County cities beyond it. The full list, with a page for each place, lives on our service areas hub.
Cross-river moves get the same flat pricing as everything else, because splitting a metro down the middle of a river never made sense to us. Start with the Portland page or the Vancouver page if you want delivery details for your side, and if your street has a quirk worth knowing about, tell us when you book; local knowledge is most of what "local" means.
Moving an Office?
Uniform, lidded, stackable totes keep files, monitors, and desk kits organized between floors or buildings, and the sustainability line looks good in the company update. Bulk deliveries land on your schedule, stack flat against a wall until packing day, and vanish from the new office when the dust settles.
We handle office relocations across the metro, from single-suite moves to multi-floor projects; the office relocation guide covers the planning side, or call or text (971) 402-0969 to talk through headcount, dates, and volume with someone who has done it before.
It's Time To Break Up With Cardboard.
Totes delivered free across Portland and Vancouver. Starting at just $97.
